Establishing study centres of its own announces the growth and autonomy of a Circumscription. With a view to realizing this vision Rev. Fr. Mathew Vekathanam, Provincial of Malabar Province, granted permission to the missionaries for establishing a Novitiate for the Mission suggesting to think of establishing institutions for subsequent stages of formation as well. Driven by this spirit, the missionaries started looking for some suitable place for a Philosophy College. As permitted by the Provincial Council, attempts were made first to buy 2 acres of land close to the Major Seminary at Jalandhar, and when it didn't materialize, a block of six flats was purchased to accommodate our Philosophy students. Since the Trinity College wasn't ready to give them any other facility other than attending the classes as day-scholars, we turned our attention to the Diocese of Chandigarh. Though we had succeeded to spot a suitable land near PGI, the Bishop of Chandigarh was not in favour of it.
It was at this stage that we approached Most Rev. Vincent Concesao, Archbishop of Delhi, and as he gladly welcomed us, we purchased the farmhouse of late President of India, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, at Pakhal, Faridabad for the Philosophy College. After negotiating with his two sons Rev. Fr. Francis Kiliyampurackal, Commissar, purchased 6 acres and 1 canal of land, and entrusted Fr. Bernard with the responsibility of overseeing the construction of the Philosophy College. On 28 July 2006, on the feast of St. Alphosa, Most Rev. Vincent Concesao, the Archbishop of Delhi, laid the foundation stone for the Philosophy College at Pakhal, Faridabad, and Very Rev. Fr. Louis Aristogui, Superior General of the Discalced Carmelite Order (OCD) erected the Philosophy College canonically on 04 February 2008. The College was blessed and inaugurated by Archbishop Vincent Concesao and his Auxiliary, Bishop Franco Mulakkal, on 22 July 2009.
