CARMELITE PROVINCIAL HOUSE
Dichaun Road, Najafgarh, New Delhi-110043
Founding the Provincial House at Najafgarh in Delhi came as an answer to the long-discussed issue of establishing the headquarters of the Delhi Province in Delhi. Following the sudden demise of Rev. Fr. Francis Kiliyampurackal, Commissary, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Kokkat took charge of the office, and he, along with his Councillors, Frs. Mark Nediyakalayil and Joseph Thekkel, decided to purchase the land at Najafgarh in consultation with the members of the Commissariat. The total property which measured 1.8 acres belonging to 10 shareholders was negotiated and registered on 12 April 2005 with the help of a realtor - Mr. Gunga, Mr. Mathai, and the S.H. Sisters.
On 24 March 2009, Most Rev. Vincent Concessao, the Archbishop of Delhi, blessed foundation stone and Rev. Fr. Benjamin Kokkat, laid it on the following day, 25 March. Mr. Mathai, who had the contract for construction, completed the first phase and on 28 November 2009, on the 441st anniversary of the Reform of our Order, Very Rev. Fr. Saverio Cannistra, Superior General, blessed and inaugurated the house during the Holy Eucharist.
